Antoine Verdon is a specialist in, and speaker on, the subject of blockchains.
Antoine switched to new technologies after finishing his law studies in 2008. He has founded several companies, the common thread being digitalisation and its impact on the business models of traditional firms.
Antoine is executive director of BlockFactory, based in the heart of Zoug’s so-called « Crypto Valley ». The firm has grown into one of the largest providers of software development services in the blockchain space. Antoine is also one of the founders of Proxeus, a set of open-source standards for digitising, recording, storing and managing assets, dubbed the « WordPress for blockchain apps », which raised $ 25 million via an ICO (Initial Coin Offering) in February 2018.
In 2016, Antoine co-founded Swiss LegalTech, an association for lawyers and developers interested in the digitalisation of the legal profession. The Swiss LegalTech Conference, which first took place in 2017, has also helped shape the Swiss scene by bringing together 700 actors for a two-day hackathon in Zurich.
Between 2013 and 2015, Antoine developed and directed one of the first venture capital vehicles in Switzerland, focusing exclusively on financial technologies and blockchains. Antoine has also worked at UBS and Lombard Odier and as a strategic advisor to the management and boards of several Swiss banks, consulting on topics related to financial technology and blockchains.
In 2008, Verdon co-founded Sandbox, one of the world’s largest communities for entrepreneurs under the age of 30, which now operates in over 100 countries. Antoine is also passionate about politics: aged 20, he became the youngest-ever member of parliament for his hometown, Lausanne. In 2005, he co-authored a book on global challenges in collaboration with several leaders, including HRH The Prince of Wales.
Antoine studied law at the Universities of Freiburg and St Gallen In 2010 and 2013, the magazines L’Hebdo and Bilan listed Verdon as one of their top 100 leading figures in Switzerland.
